Importing Gifts To Your Shopify Store

During the holiday's you or your customers may want to give gifts to employees or VIP customers.  The gifts may be products in your store or a product that you may not typically sell.  This is something that EZ Importer can help you with as we give you a lot of flexibility around the price and product details of your import.

Changing The Price Of The Gift On The Order Only

Setting the price on your gift imports is pretty easy and can be setup in two small steps.  EZ Importer allows you to import orders with a different price than what is setup in your store.  This way you can import your gift orders and have each products line item price set to any value while you'd like.

To do this, simply setup a price column in your CSV file and set it to 0 (or any other price that you want if you are going to bill your customer/client at a discount).

Once you have the price setup on your CSV file, simply map the price on the Line Items tab of your data mapping.

If you're planning on importing your gifts all at the same price you can set up a default value for the line_items.price field which will allow you to set all prices of all products on the order to the same value.  For example, if you're going to send all of your employees a gift and want to set the price to 0 you can add a default field so you don't have to mess around with your CSV file.

You can do this by adding a configuration to the Default Fields Configuration section of the Data Mapping.  For more details on default configurations click here.

Add Products Not In Your Store

With EZ Importer, you can easily add products that are not in your store.  You may want to give gifts that are not in your store but you want to keep track of them as a Shopify order anyway.

We allow you to do this by mapping the product title, price and quantity on the Line Items section of the data mapping.  When you provide these fields with your order, the app will add the order with the title, price and quantity found in your CSV file.  Just note that there will not be an image uploaded with the product.

Adding Gift Notes To Your Order

If you don't have a process for adding gift notes, you can add notes to your orders to ensure a note gets added to the order once it's fulfilled.   There are two fields that can be used to add notes to the order when it's imported.  The first and most straight forward way of adding a note to your order is using the note field on the Order Details tab.  The process to add the notes to your order is similar to how you would added the price above.  You'll need to add a note column to your CSV file and then map the note column in your CSV file to the note field on the order like so:

The other option you have, if you're already using the notes field or prefer to create a separate field for a gift message, is the note_attributes field on the Order Details tab.  This field is a little more complicated as you may need to be comfortable JSON although we do allow you to use carriage returns to separate the fields.  This may make it a little easier to add specific notes to a custom field.  Our documentation on using this field can be found here.
