EZ Exporter Update: Amazon S3 Integration Now Supports Custom Endpoints for S3-Compatible Storage Services

We had a Shopify merchant using our EZ Exporter app recently asked us about exporting data to a cloud storage service which happens to be S3-compatible.

In the past, merchants that have used our Amazon S3 integration have always had their own AWS account, so we actually didn't know about this use case where other cloud storage providers offer their own storage service built on top of S3 and compatible with the S3 API.

With this new update, we added an option to our Amazon S3 integration to specify a custom Endpoint URL in order to export files to these other S3-compatible cloud object storage services such as DigitalOcean Spaces.

Here's a screenshot of what the new option looks like:

You'll also notice here that the "Access Key ID" is in a different format (starts with "DO" instead of "AK").  In this case, the credentials came directly from the cloud storage provider (DigitalOcean).

This is what the exported files look like on DigitalOcean:

Below is a list of some of these S3-compatible services that might work with our app (note that we haven't tested them all, so we can't say for sure whether they will work with our app, we've confirmed it works with DigitalOcean and Wasabi).
