Reduce Inventory When Importing Your Orders

We've recently released a Beta feature in EZ Importer that allows you to reduce product inventory when importing orders. This has come up a lot recently while talking with customers, and it's something we felt would be valuable.

The feature is intended for customers who are doing regular imports opposed to one time imports. At this time the feature is only available upon request. If this is a feature you're interested in please contact us so we can add you as a beta user.

Once the feature is turned on, go to the data mapping you wish to use with the reduce inventory feature and click the Reduce Inventory checkbox.

Once you've made the change, save your data mapping. On your next import EZ Importer will reduce the inventory of any product that has an associated order.

A few things to note:

  1. The feature is marked beta because the reduce inventory feature does not restock inventory if an import is deleted. EZ importer allows you to delete orders after they've been imported. If you've imported orders with the reduce inventory feature turned on and then delete the import you'll need to manually update the inventory on your products.
  2. The policy on the reduce inventory feature is set to ignore the inventory policy. If you have any products with an inventory of 0, EZ Importer will still reduce the inventory. This means your products inventory will be negative.

For a more detailed explanation of this feature checkout out our knowledge base article about it here. If this feature seems valuable to you please let us know by contacting us here. We'll be happy to turn it on for you.

If your looking for a fully automated inventory management process to go along with EZ Importer you can checkout our inventory management app called EZ Inventory.
