During the holiday season a lot of merchants give gifts to employees, clients and VIP customers.  This is a great way to say thank you and show gratitude during the season.  When giving gifts you may want to send them through your normal fulfillment process, which means you have to add your gift orders to your Shopify store.  Below we'll walk you through one way to add gift orders to your Shopify store.

Manually Adding Gift Orders To Your Shopify Store

You can manually add gifts to your Shopify store if you plan on sending a small number of orders to your employees or customers.  Doing this manually will allow you to add the gift recipients address to the order, set the price to 0 and even send a little note with the gift.  

To do this, you'll want to create a manual order in your Shopify admin.  From here, select the product you want to send or you can create a custom item for the order.

If you've decided to send a product you sell as a gift you can set a discount on the line item so the price will be 0.  In the example above, I set the line item discount to 100% and left a reason of "Holiday Gift".  You can also leave a note on the order or if you have another custom field already setup for notes you can leave one there.  Before you save your order you can also add a tag to make your gift orders easier to find in the future.

Once you've set everything up, you can click the Mark as paid button or save the draft order.  Once you've created the order it will show up just like all the other orders in your Shopify store.

Adding Gift Orders In Bulk

If you have more than a few gift orders to send out, you may want to do this in bulk.  There aren't too many options other than installing an app that'll allow you to import orders in bulk.  If you're technical you can also do this using the Transporter app or the Shopify Order API directly.
