5 Inspirational Quotes for Ecommerce Entrepreneurs

Let's face it. Being an entrepreneur in the ecommerce business is tough. There's so much work involved that you feel like you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Well, I'm here to tell you not to give up. It seems like a lot of work now, but it will all be worth it soon. In all honesty, I'm sure that "giving up" is not the only negative feeling that you might experience as an ecommerce entrepreneur. There's self-doubt, lack of motivation, finances, the list goes on. None of these are reasons to stop. None of these are things to dwell upon. There are so many other things to focus on and so many reasons to keep going. I'm not the only on cheering you on, I'm sure. So, for those days that the road gets a little too bumpy, I suggest you put the car in park and take a breather.

1. "Chase the vision, not the money; the money will end up following you." Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos

Why it's important: As entrepreneurs, your knee-jerk reaction is to make sure that you're making money. But that shouldn't be the only reason that you put yourself out there. If you believe in your product, then put your stock there. Once you've done that, as Hsieh says, the money will come.

2. "If you're competitor focused, you have to wait until there's a competitor doing something. Being more customer focused allows you to be more pioneering." Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon

Why it's important: In an attempt to be competitive, many of us focus solely on what the competition is doing: what they're doing, how they're advertising, when they're launching, how to best them. For obvious reasons, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The issue comes when you're stagnant because it's all you do. At some point, you need to listen to what your consumers desire. Listening to what they want can help set the bar for your company and, in turn, possibly set a trend for other companies to follow.

3. "Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise." Ted Turner, media mogul

Why it's important: Obviously, you need your sleep and it's easy to forge that when you're working as hard as you're working. But sleep you must, otherwise how will you have the energy to "work like hell?" The early bird catches the worm, so the sooner you're up, the sooner you can get those important tasks done. Let's not forget the need to advertise. Advertising (or using social media influencers) will help your business. And these days, influencers do all the work of advertising with none of the pushiness of traditional ads.

4. "Every second you spend thinking about what someone else has is taking away from time that you could create something for yourself." Gary Vee, entrepreneur

Why it's important: It is far too easy sometimes to fall into the "why not me" trap. Almost all of us are guilty of having done it at least once in our lives. Unfortunately, admiring your neighbor's garden will not help your flowers grow. All it's doing is diminishing an progress that you could be making for yourself. If you don't pull yourself out of this trap now, you'll be paying for it later and you'll find yourself even deeper in this hole.

5. "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten." Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company

Why it's important: Sometimes it's important to remember that, in this business, you will most certainly have to take a chance. Continuing to do the same things consistently will cause you to plateau. This isn't as bad as a downward trend, but it's not as good as growth. There will be times that you will have to take a leap of faith. Things may not always turn out as well as you'd like, but you'll never how good they can be unless you jump. Who knows, you could really surprise yourself.

Conclusion

Sometimes, the advice you need isn't technical or financial. Sometimes you just need mental or spiritual advice and that's fine. We all need that extra push, so why not take the time to make sure you're supported on all fronts? At the end of the day, you are the biggest supporter of your business and if you're not okay, it won't be either.
