Import Your Kickstarter Campaign to Shopify

Congratulations you've completed a successful Kickstarter campaign. This is quite an accomplishment! Now that you've raised funding for your product it's time to start thinking about how you're going to fulfill them through your Shopify store. Importing external orders to Shopify can be stressful and scary. We're here to try and help take away some of that stress. Our app EZ Importer was built to try and make this process a little easier.

Export Your Backers from Kickstarter

EZ Importer works with any csv file and Kickstart is no different. Using the Backer Report from Kickstarter you can export all of your backer data. You should have three options SKU per Column, SKU per line item, and SKU and Quantity List in Alphabetical Order. We recommend you download your backer data using the SKU per line item option. This will make the data mapping extremely easy as each line item will be exported as a single row with the same Backer ID.

Mapping Kickstarter to Shopify

Now that you've exported your backer data all you have left to do is upload the file and map the appropriate columns to Shopify. EZ Importer allows some flexibility here. At a minimum you'll need to map the Backer ID, Sku Name, Quantity and Price. You may need to add a price column to your Backer Report csv. Once you've added the column you'll want to set the value of each line item to the price the backer paid or to 0. Either option is fine as long as you have a price field.

Kickstarter Data Mapping

We've build the data mapper to work with any number of columns and csv files so you can map just the fields we've mentioned above or you can add the rest of the fields in your csv file. We have a step by step guide on mapping your Kickstarter Backer csv to Shopify in our knowledge base if you want more information on the data mapping process.

Next Steps

Once you've mapped your csv data to the appropriate Shopify fields, you can start your import. From go to the Import Review page, look over your data and start your import. Once you've imported your Kickstarter Backer data you can start the fulfillment process.

We've worked really hard to make this process as seamless and flexible as possible. Using our data mapper should give you the flexibility to add as much information as you want. In the next few months we'll be looking to improve this process by building a tool that will allow you to build a Kickstarter data mapping with the click of a button.

We hope this article has given you enough information to start fulfilling your successful Kickstarter campaign. If you're new to Shopify and have yet to setup your store, click here to get started.
